Faxing Pictures of Documents

My printer is out of ink and I don’t know how to use my scanner. Can I just take a picture of a document and fax it using an online service?

Online faxing sites are designed to help people who don’t have a fax machine. However, most of the time, you’ll want a scanner, since it will keep the quality of a hard copy relatively intact.

If your scanner doesn’t work or you don’t have a scanner, you can definitely take a picture of the document and fax the photo from your computer or phone. However, there are a couple of things to keep in mind:

If your scanner doesn’t work or you don’t have a scanner, you could take a picture of the document and fax the photo from your computer or phone. This can work in a pinch, but the quality of the fax received is likely to be terrible, and the fax will likely take a long time to send — on the order of 10 to 30 minutes per page, depending on the image. Faxing was not developed for sending photos. I wouldn’t use this method to send a
resume or any other professional document; I’d only resort to this in a case of: this document needs to be delivered NOW and I don’t care if it’s pretty when it gets there.
