Windows Fax and Scan Format
I have Windows Fax and Scan and recently upgrade to Windows 10. When I scan a document, it scans as a .pdf file and I am unable to then send it as a fax. The error shows that the file has to be a .tif file, but I’ve been unable to change the format for the scan. Any ideas are appreciated.
The answer to this might vary a bit, depending on your scanner. There are two places you can start if you want to set it so that your files scan as TIF instead of PDF. First, start with Windows Fax and Scan. When you choose “New Scan,” choose the “Profile” list in the dialog box. You can then choose to scan in a document or a photo. The default setting might be set at PDF, but you can then change it to TIF or any other listed format you like.
If that option doesn’t work, try looking at your scanner. When you go to scan the file, check the Scan Settings option. It will also have a default format setting, which you can then change.
If neither of those options work, you can always convert the file after you’ve scanned it. Just Google to find one of many sites that offer a quick and easy way to change formats. Upload your PDF and choose the format you wish to convert it to. They’ll send you a link so you can download the TIF, and then you can fax it without further trouble.
