I tried your directions for faxing with MagicJack. Can you walk me through the correct settings on the Canon?

I tried your directions for faxing with MagicJack. I have a Canon MX350 All-in-One. The error report showed: TX CANCELLED: RX FAX INFO MISMATCH

Help please. Can you walk me through the correct settings on the Canon?

Things can get a little more complicated with VOIP, but faxing should be relatively simple, particularly if you followed the instructions you found on this page.

According to the manual, this error code is displayed when the machine cannot “detect the recipient’s fax machine information or the information did not match the dialed number. This error…is displayed when ‘Check RX fax information is set to ON.”

An Internet search indicates that somehow the recipient’s fax machine may be receiving a different number than the one you dialed, which is also a result of this “check RX fax information” setting being on.

So, in theory, you won’t get this message if you turn that setting off. That should be your first attempt at solving this problem.

To do this, change your settings in the following way:

Menu >Settings > Device Settings > Fax Settings > Transmission Settings > Check RX fax info > Set to OFF position > OK

Some suggest that this error shows up most often when you fax to a toll-free (800 or 888, for example) number, since somewhere during the transmission a “real” fax machine with a dedicated number must take over the receipt of those faxes. The Canon MX350 might not be able to handle the switchover during mid-fax, unless you disable the “check RX fax information” function.

If that doesn’t do the trick, you might need to slow down the transmission speed of the faxes. This can also be done via the menu, by following this sequence:

Menu >Settings > Device Settings > Fax Settings > Transmission Settings > TX Start Speed > Set to 14400 bps or lower> OK
