Why Do I Need an Electronic Fax Account?
Can I not send you a letter, or scan in something and send it to you to print out if you want? I was told I need to get this for a new business startup and I am just asking myself why.
If you don’t think you need it, you don’t need it. If you have a scanner and can email documents – fantastic! The problem comes when you’re doing business with people who don’t know how to open the documents that you email them. Or you need to receive documents from others, and they don’t have a scanner and email skills. In those cases, fax becomes the lowest common denominator for communicating with other businesses.
Some businesses use their electronic fax account every day, while others do so only occasionally. If you are in a time-sensitive field and think there’s a chance you may need to send or receive a fax in an emergency, you may want to set up a fax number just in case. If you anticipate sending faxes rarely, check out a free service such as FaxZero. Another option would be to set up an affordable receive-only service and then use a separate, free service when you need to send.
If you are tech-savvy and so are all of your business cohorts, you don’t need fax.
