Internal Fax Modem

I have home Vista with Brother fax and printer. Does this mean I have a fax modem?

A fax modem comes as part of most computers, although modems can also be sold as external accessories that can send faxes. So, because you have a computer with Windows Vista, you almost certainly have a modem within your computer. Your fax machine is a different animal: It is not a fax modem, but you can use it in conjunction with your computer’s internal modem to send faxes.

You should be able to send faxes and receive once you connect your Brother fax and printer to your computer and follow the instructions for your particular setup. (Or, consider a fax-to-email service and avoid the need for a machine or modem.)
