Proving a Fax Went Through
I need proof the fax I sent six months ago went through OK. My Canon Faxphone B540/550 only prints recent activity reports. Can I get it from memory?
Unfortunately, you can’t. Consumer fax machines typically don’t have that kind of data retention. The standard cap for most fax activity reports is 200 entries, and then the machine automatically generates a report and erases its memory.
However, if this is something that might happen again, especially if legal or financial issues are a concern, make it a policy to run a recent activity report on a regular basis. For example, set reports up to run on the first of the month, or every Friday, and file them away.
Some fax machines can be programmed to do that automatically on a recurring schedule.
